TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR FLOW SORT TM
X-RAY DIAMOND RECOVERY MACHINE

MODEL: EGT 500

A NEW RELEASE OF THE ORIGINAL FLOW SORT

This sorter model has been designed to handle material sizes beyond the range of our standard x-ray recovery machines (Models XR 2/19 or XR 15/35W).
Typically such a sorter is used on +25mm -60mm material (wet or dry).
The design is simple and robust.

Diamond detection is accomplished on the 500mm wide vibrating feeder tray utilising a single x-ray tube and a single photomultiplier. Separating a detected diamond from the rest of the material is done by an electrically driven polycarbonate cutting gate. This sorter can handle wet or dry feed material. For dry material however an optional optic pressurisation unit is required!

X-RAY COOLING WATER SUPPLY:

QUALITY: Water supply must be filtered through a 250 Micron filter.

PRESSURE: Water supply pressure must not be less than 400 kPa and not exceeding 1000kPa.

NOTE: Machines fitted with an (optional) indirect cooling water system can be operated at water pressures down to 300kPa.

VOLUME: Approximately 4 litres/min.

OPERATING TEMPERATURE:

MIN: Above freezing
MAX: +40°C

SORTING PARAMETERS OF SORTER MODEL EGT500

MINIMUM SIZE: The recommended minimum is 19mm.
MAXIMUM SIZE: The recommended maximum is 75mm.

SIZE RATIO: Typical: 2:1                  Maximum: 3:1

Note: The feed material must be clean and free of undersize to achieve maximum sorter performance.

FEED RATE: The maximum feed rate per hour “FR” is computed by using the following approximation:

FR (in t/h) =  d(mm) / 4 (d =average particle diameter in mm)

Note: The above feed rate approximation is based on an average particle s.g. = 2.7
The average particle volume is assumed to be 60% of a sphere of diameter=d

DIAMOND RECOVERY:

Diamond recovery figures depend on many factors such as the temperature of the diamond, intensity of light emitted by the excited diamond, feed rate, feed particle size ratio, etc. In practice, however, when our sorter is properly adjusted and operated within its operating parameters, diamond recovery efficiency figures (by number) above 98% can be expected. Diamond recovery efficiency figures based on carats or on diamond value can be expected to run close to 100%!

MASS (approx.):

Nett weight of sorter (excluding control panel) 700 kg
Nett weight of control panel 80 kg
Weight of crated sorter without control panel 800 kg
Weight of crated control panel 100 kg
